Key West Flats Fishing

FLATS FISHING IN KEY WEST

August is here and the flats are on fire right now! Huge schools of bone fish have been showing up on the flats. The bone fishing will continue to get better, with bigger sized fish showing up. The permit bite is as good as it comes right now, have your best fly ready because they are around. Were seeing fewer and fewer tarpon around as the weeks go by.. You can still get some shots at them out Back, looking for the smaller tarpon on the edge of flats or around the mangroves.

OFFSHORE FISHING IN KEY WEST

The offshore bite has been great with plenty of current. The mahi mahi bite is dying down, with a lot more smaller fish being caught. A few wahoo have been caught here and there. The Reef bite has been spectacular, with plenty of big mangroves being caught. The famous keys yellow tail snapper bite has been great as usual, and makes for great table fare. deep dropping around the humps has been producing very well for our offshore anglers. catching a wide variety of species such as, golden tile fish, big snowy and yellow edge grouper, rose fish, and some surprise species.

We wish you tight lines and fish boat side from the staff at The Saltwater Angler!
