Greetings from Warm and Sunny Key West!

The weather has continued to be on the warm side for this time of year. With October just around the corner, the water temperature should start falling. Hopefully with all the rain showers over the last week, we should start to see some cooling down effect over the flats and shallows as well. 

The bone fishing continues to be this summer’s hot fish with many captains still finding large schools of fish on the flats. The permit fishing has been brutal these last few weeks. Most reports of permit have been of them moving quickly over the flats and not offering up many shots. For whatever the reason, they continue to be the most challenging fish for the flats!

The Tarpon fishing has been steady as well lately, with your best chance for a shot at one has been very early in the morning. Most are still juvenile fish in the 15-45lb range but still offer up a great fight on lighter fly rods. A 9wt. or 10wt. rod is all you need for a good fight.

Jacks, Mangrove snapper and Cudas are all still easy to find along the mangrove back islands and offer a lot of fun whether on fly or spin fishing gear.
