Key West Fishing Report

We at the Saltwater Angler wish you a warm and sunny welcome from our little slice of Key West paradise. Thank you for your interest in our Key West Fishing Report for Fishing in Key West and the lower keys!

Greetings from Key West!  Saltwater Angler has the information for flats fishing in Key West.

The summer weather is here. the wind has finally decided to ease up in us. This week the forecast is calling for winds in the 8 to 15 mph range. Monday evening through Tuesday night are calling for single digit winds. Tuesday and Wednesday are calling for 10-15 range. The forecast is calling for the wind to lay back down till Sunday. The forecast is calling for showers early in the week, with the sun popping out mid week through the weekend.

Feels like early summer. Fishable winds early in the week, then mellowing mid week into the weekend. Temperatures look to remain in the low to mid 80’s for the next 6 days or so!

The weather seems to have finally made a change toward normalcy with high 80’s most of the next 2 weeks. The winds will still be averaging 8 to 15 mph with most of the week single digit wind.

Captains have been reporting groups of Tarpon are starting to begin migrating back from whence they came. Bone fish have been a pleasant surprise with many fish being caught as the water temps rise. Look to find most Bones active on a tide change later in the day when the suns had a chance to warm the shallows up. Permit have still been slow this time of year.

Just to let you know, there have been some permit around, but as always they can be picky and elusive.

We have also seen large Cudas are still out on the flats even with the warming water. These guys are a great challenge on fly or light spin gear.

Remember to get the fly moving fast to get their attention. They love live bait!

Wishing everyone tight lines and fish boatside!

Offshore there have been a great variety of fish being caught. Snapper and grouper have been the normal culprits on the bottom.

There have been a mix of Blackfin Tuna, with some Kings, Barracudas, Bonita, and the Mahi’s have arrived.

We wish you tight lines and fish boat side from the staff at The Saltwater Angler!
