The Key West reef fishing will be your best bet offshore this week with anyone bringing plenty of chum. Yellow tail snapper have been plentiful if you can get them up off the bottom. Grouper and larger snapper down deep are still good when dropping cut bait, live bait or bouncing big buck tails off the bottom in 40-60 feet of water.
With the very light winds, many captains and local fisherman alike have been able to get offshore. The calm of the sea has many fisherman catching a good amount of Dolphin.
Few larger bulls and cows have been reported, but mostly it’s been large schools of mid-size dolphin. That size makes for great table fare. Looking for good packed weed lines will put you in the right spot. Keep in mind, birds diving is a sign of bait which could bring many kinds of pelagic species. As usual reef fishing has been very productive with yellow tail snapper leading the way. A good amount of chum will help you bring them up from the bottom while fishing in 40-60 feet of water.
